Cherith Brooks and Toenails
I’ve fallen in love with this place called Cherith Brooks. It’s a Catholic Worker house in Kansas City.
“Our daily lives are structured around practicing the works of mercy as found in Jesus’ teachings. We are committed to regularly feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, giving drink to the thirsty, welcoming the stranger, visiting the prisoner and the sick in the name of Jesus.”

Things I would have tweeted this week if it...
1. I never once fell walking to class. Everyone: please be proud and give me a round of applause.
2. The third floor of Wood has a bathroom, and in that bathroom there is a stall, and that stall has a sign, and that sign reads, “Please flush the toilet!” I wanted to laugh and I wanted to cry all at the same time.
3. I hate Geology.
4. Thanks Trob and Keith for attempting to share...

Through all the chaos of the new semester, I couldn’t be more thankful that I belong to God. How humbling is it to know that I, a sinner, bring Christ glory?
Praying to bring Christ the most glory this semester, to humble myself as I attempt to display his love and power in everything I do.

I will always cherish the memories in this sweet home. Everything from the ugly pink poodles next to the mural of Paris in the front room, the time my Aunt Virginia fell on the side walk and broke her new phone while trying out my brother’s new spiderman skateboard, the odor of the garage, christmas day tamales, and all of the wisdom my grandma and...

Now in order to get to that point I must write these essays…
Now that the first semester is over, I was trying to think of the 5 best moments but couldn’t narrow down to just 5. I’ve grown a lot these past four months as I’ve struggled, laughed, cried and worried but overall the number one thing God has taught me was been to continually trust in his plan. I was worried about how life at UCM would be more I seriously was proved SO wrong. So, here’s an...
I read the Denison Forum (basically a daily devotional) and this was a forum from the other day I found particularly great.

What did Jesus think of Black Friday? How do you feel about the way our society celebrates Christmas? A record 226 million people visited stores and websites during the last four days, up from 212 million last year. Black...

I won't be much of a House Wife
If you’re my friend or family you’ve experienced that I suddenly have started to really love baking (feminist jokes a side). However, I usually just make the same thing each time, chocolate chip cookies (which are some darn good cookies, let me just say). But after spending too much time on Pinterest I decided to go out of my comfort zone and actually make something I saw on the site...

There are always those who take it upon themselves to defend God, as if Ultimate Reality, as if the sustaining frame of existence, were something weak and helpless. These people walk by a widow deformed by leprosy begging for a few dollars, walk by children dressed in rags living in the street…

Last week I used the music video for “Sic Transit Gloria” by Brand New and assigned what is essentially an album review to help teach analysis. Tomorrow I’m using Epic Meal Time to help teach cliches. I hope my students think class is as awesome as I do.
